2027 United Tribes American Indian Unity Conference
March 3–6, 2027

Theme

The 2027 conference theme is Native Sovereignty in the AI Era. Workshop proposals should broadly support and reflect the conference theme or the conference description above when possible.   

 

Submission

• Complete and submit the online workshop proposal form including a brief bio of all workshop presenters and speakers. 

• Online submissions only. No paper proposals accepted. 

• Workshop proposals will be accepted through 11:59 pm, December 4, 2026. No late proposals will be accepted. 

 

Before you begin your submission form, make sure you have on hand:

• A workshop proposal description/abstract of no more than 100 words exactly as you would like it to appear for the conference.

• A brief 75 word max bio for all workshop coordinators, moderators, speakers, and presenters.

• No more than 5 total workshop personnel.

• Contact info for all workshop personnel: name, tribe (if applicable), title (if applicable), affiliation or organization, email address and phone number.

Evaluation Criteria

General relevance to the conference theme and audience, and to United Tribes’ mission to promote educational, economic, religious, charitable, and cultural activities for American Indian people.

1. The proposed workshop’s ability to reflect the personal, professional or research interests of conference attendees and current or emerging issues affecting American Indians tribes, and/or organizations. 

2. The proposed workshop’s stated plan to be a fresh, engaging and interactive workshop.

3. Completeness and effectiveness of information provided in the submitted proposal. Information must be clearly stated and complete including brief bios of all presenters and speakers at the time of online submission of the proposal.

 

Terms and Conditions

 

• Please limit your workshop to no more than 5 workshop personnel total. 

• Projectors and screens will be provided in each workshop room. Equipment such as laptops, HDMI or other cables, speakers, markers and white boards/flip charts are NOT provided by United Tribes. 

• Workshop rooms will be set up theater style (head table and rows of chairs facing the head table). If you have a different need, please contact us at unitedtribesofnc@gmail.com. 

• United Tribes now offers complementary same-day conference attendance for workshop coordinators, moderators and presenters, not to include the Friday night banquet. You may attend the conference free on the same day as your workshop, not to include the Friday night banquet.

• If workshop coordinators, moderators or presenters plan to attend the conference on a different day, or a portion of a different day other than their own workshop, or plan to attend the remainder of the conference, corresponding conference registration fees must be paid. To register for the conference, go to the United Tribes website at www.unitedtribesofnc.org. 

• United Tribes cannot pay travel expenses.

• United Tribes cannot pay for hotel rooms for workshop personnel. A block of rooms has been reserved for March 3 - 6, 2027. A special room rate of $159.00 per night will be available through the United Tribes website until February 10th, 2027 at 11:59 pm or until the group block is sold out. 

 

Workshop Coordinator: The individual who develops and submits the workshop proposal.

Workshop coordinator will:

1. Select and confirm all workshop personnel and submit that information online, along with the rest of your complete workshop proposal. 

2. Obtain brief bios of no more than 75 words for all workshop presenters and speakers and submit them online along with the workshop proposal application. Your submission is not complete without all of the bios. If more than 75 words are submitted, we will use the first 75 words as the total bio printed online. Please encourage speakers and presenters to trim their bios to a maximum of 75 words. 

3. Determine equipment needs for the workshop, secure and deliver needed equipment not provided by United Tribes to the workshop room at least 30 minutes prior to workshop time. Check the workshop schedule for timing.

4. Test all AV equipment at least 30 minutes prior to workshop time. 

5. Check the assigned workshop area prior to the workshop to make any final adjustments necessary. Check the workshop schedule for timing.

6. Leave 5-10 minutes at the end of the workshop for attendees to complete workshop evaluations. Direct attendees to complete the workshop evaluation or direct a different workshop personnel to direct attendees to complete the workshop evaluation.
